As a partner of the Hamburg Start-up Network, the University of Hamburg offers its founders and those interested in start-ups a wide range of support and services through its Start-up Service.
As the largest research and education institution in Northern Germany and one of the largest universities in Germany, the University of Hamburg combines a diverse range of courses with excellent research and offers a broad spectrum of subjects with numerous interdisciplinary focuses. Those interested in setting up their own business thus have the opportunity to obtain expertise from around 170 courses of study in a total of 27 faculties of the 8 faculties.
The Career Center and PIASTA courses are aimed at all registered students and doctoral candidates at the University of Hamburg and all graduates up to two years after graduation.

Advice

The Start-up Service of the University of Hamburg in the Department for Knowledge and Technology Transfer (WTT) of the Presidential Administration of the UHH offers all students, graduates and researchers interested in start-ups competent advice and support for start-ups from science.

In initial and follow-up consultations, we provide advice on business start-ups and freelance work for innovative ideas from the university sector by telephone, e-mail or on-site.

Qualification

The Career Center of the University of Hamburg sees itself as your service facility to prepare and successfully shape your career entry. There are various workshops, events as well as a summer and winter school especially for business start-ups.
In addition, the Career Center offers individual counselling for those interested in starting a business in cooperation with Hamburg Innovation GmbH.

PIASTA - Intercultural Living and Studying, is a program of the International Affairs Department, which offers German and English seminars and workshops on the subject of business start-ups in cooperation with the Career Center.
Among other things, seminars and workshops are offered here which impart core competencies for a successful career start as well as for business start-ups.
The Career Center and PIASTA offers courses for all registered students and doctoral candidates at the University of Hamburg and for all graduates up to two years after graduation.

PIASTA - Interkulturelles Leben und Studieren, ist ein Programm der Abteilung Internationales, welches u. a. deutsch- und englischsprachige Seminare und Workshops zum Thema Existenzgründung in Kooperation mit dem Career Center anbietet.
Hier werden unter anderem Seminare und Workshops angeboten, die Kernkompetenzen für einen erfolgreichen Berufseinstieg sowie bei Existenzgründung vermitteln.
Die Angebote des Career Center und PIASTA richten sich an alle eingeschriebenen Studierenden und Promovierenden der Universität Hamburg sowie an alle Absolvent/innen bis zwei Jahre nach dem Studienabschluss.

Funding

As part of the EXIST funding programme, the WTT is responsible for the administrative management of EXIST project applications and approved EXIST projects. The support is provided in cooperation with Hamburg Innovation GmbH.
In our advisory discussions, we discuss further financing options if required, point out possible ways to public funding and support the application process.

Space

The UHH promotes business start-ups within the framework of EXIST by providing and using rooms, equipment and other infrastructure. The WTT provides support if required.
